Hoodie season turned into jacket and peacoat season this morning as we head closer to winter, but on the flipside, nothing but mostly sunny skies for the week.

This week’s edition is a bit lighter and a day late after a busy weekend where The Stoop made its in-person debut at Monster Mash, one of Somerville’s inaugural Halloween bashes. A big thank you to the City of Somerville and the Somerville Arts Council for having us, as well as to everyone who stopped by to say hi (sorry if I missed you, I was probably stuck in a never-ending shoulder-to-shoulder line at Market Basket snagging more candy).

Thanks for waiting on this one, and have a great week.

-Kevin

October 5 through 8 ran 80 incidents and 12 arrests across the four days CPD has posted, close to the prior week's daily pace, with October 5 the busiest at 25.

NOTABLE: Between six and ten headstones were knocked over or defaced at a cemetery on Rindge Ave. in North Cambridge, reported to police on October 6. The log doesn't say when the damage happened and names no suspect.

Bikes were the story of the week: 11 bikes and e-bikes were reported stolen in four days, five on October 7 alone, from a bike room, a basement, a backyard and racks outside businesses, and one person was arrested October 5 with a stolen e-bike. Shoplifting made up 10 of October 6's 24 entries, from a $5 arrest on Mass. Ave. to $690 at CambridgeSide, where a $1,200 motorcycle was also stolen. On October 8, a man was arrested after injuring an officer during a disturbance at a White St. business. Stranger entries: someone got into a Market St. home and photographed it, and a Walden St. resident found someone else's clothes inside their home. Neither the October 6 nor the October 7 shooting appears in these logs, and police have not announced arrests in either.

Somerville logged two arrests over October 5-11, down from five, both on October 10.

One came on two warrants, one tied to Mass General Hospital and one from Boston Police, covering malicious property damage over $1,200, disorderly conduct, assault, threats and trespass. The other was for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

State law keeps juveniles, domestic violence and sexual assault out of both cities' public logs, so neither set of numbers is a full count.
