September 14 through 20 ran 148 incidents and 22 arrests, holding almost exactly level with the week before at a steady 17 to 25 calls a day.
NOTABLE: Two more men, both from Boston, in their early twenties, are now charged with murder in the July 4 killing of the city DPW worker found on Norfolk Street. One was arrested Sixth Street September 17, in the log above; the other was arraigned September 23. Both are held without bail, with next dates October 15 and 22. Investigators say the victim, walking at 4AM in his DPW shirt, was confronted by the pair on Norfolk Street while a third man, already charged, acted as lookout. Two of them later dumped items in dumpsters. No connection to the victim is known, and a motive is still under investigation.
Porch theft was the week's real pattern, a dozen packages taken, Rindge Ave. hit three times in one day on September 16, two of them holding prescription medication. Shoplifting stayed constant, nine reports on September 19 alone and a $1,168 haul from a Somerville Ave. store on September 20. Bikes kept disappearing, eight across the week and topped by a $3,500 e-bike off Garden St. Cyclists had a rough stretch too: two were doored within 20 minutes on September 16, one hospitalized, a third on September 18. Stranger entries: a resident learned someone used their identity to buy a gun, and someone rang a Harvard St. doorbell to threaten the owner's pet.

Somerville logged three arrests over the same week, up from one, spread across September 15, 17 and 20.
NOTABLE: Officers were called to Statue Park in Davis Square around noon on September 15 for an injured man bleeding heavily from a deep cut to his head. He told police another man had hit him with the shaft of a steel broom during an argument, and the suspect, 55, admitted it at the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital. The charges are assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault on a person over 60 or disabled.
The other two were a property destruction arrest on Putnam Road on September 17 and a shoplifting arrest on September 20, after a man walked out of the Somerville Ave. Target with $1,174 of merchandise, pushed an employee who tried to stop him at the door, and was caught a few streets away with a store backpack still tagged.
State law keeps juveniles, domestic violence and sexual assault out of both cities' public logs, so neither set of numbers is a full count.
