NOTABLE: A 27-year-old South Carolina man was arrested near Central Square after allegedly displaying a loaded handgun during an altercation on Franklin Street. Police say he tried to flee and ditched a bag holding a loaded 9mm with a defaced serial number, and he now faces assault and firearm charges
Fraud did the heaviest damage this week: an $18,000 social media scam, a $6,174 fake apartment deposit, and thousands more lost to phony confirmations and stolen card numbers. Beyond the scams, a moped was taken in an armed carjacking at a Central Square intersection, a driver who struck several vehicles was arrested for OUI and found with suspected drugs, and a Pearl St bomb threat was cleared by the Explosive Ordnance Unit. The background hum stayed familiar: shoplifting runs through the squares and a steady drip of bikes lifted from racks, sheds, and backyards

The week started with an open container arrest, followed by a drug possession arrest on an out-of-town warrant. The weekend brought a traffic stop for speeding on a suspended license and closed with an OUI arrest that also carried assault with a dangerous weapon and reckless operation charges
