September may as well be renamed the month of festivals, as the first post-Labor Day weekend lands with a bang and runs through Sunday.

Oktoberfest szn kicks off at Bow Market with stein-holding competitions, live music, games and even a lager run on Sunday to burn off all the empty calories. And that's not it.

Riverfest puts an exclamation point on the summer with fireworks over the Mystic. The Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian brings the North End Italian festival vibe to East Cambridge. And Pemberton Farms hosts its biggest event of the year, a craft beer festival showing off some of Boston's elite brews from Mighty Squirrel to Trillium, with tastings running all Saturday afternoon.

Looking for last-minute plans tonight? MIT Museum's monthly After Dark series shines the spotlight on polar vortexes, cryogenics, climatology and everything cold.

Btw, it seems like a lot of you loved Sakura's story in Davis. So much so that Michael and his family are extending the 10% discount (yes, off the whole bill) through next Monday. Here's their site for the menu. Enjoy.
